As a young boy, Michael Murphy became interested in hunting while living on a farm near Abilene, Kansas. In 1964, he began shooting competitively & selling firearms as a hobby. Michael obtained his Federal Firearm's License in 1974, & opened a small shop in the corner of a limestone barn.

The business expanded in 1988 to include the very first Sporting Clay Range in the state of Kansas, complete with 10 hand traps. The shop also hosted the first Governor's Turkey Hunt Sporting Clay Shoot & was selected as the first Beretta Premium Dealer in the United States. Michael made a name for himself as a custom gun fitter and Master Instructor throughout the United States.

In 1990, the range was upgraded to automatic traps using imported Kromsen traps. Michael also began designing Sporting Clay Ranges throughout the United States & Mexico. In 1998, Michael's son, Marc, took over the day-to-day operations of the business. In 2004, Marc purchased the business from his father & continues the

family tradition today. Under Marc's guidance, the business hosted the 2014 & 2016 Kansas State Sporting Clays Championship, as well as the 2014 F.I.T.A.S.C. & 5-Stand Championship.

On April 6, 2021, Michael Murphy went to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by love and his family in the end. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His Legacy continues, and he will be truly missed by all. For more information, click here.
